moving

Hey everybody! We've decided to move to another blog-hosting site that offers more room. From now on you can find us here!

7.18.2008

hello again!

We had a little impromptu photo shoot on our back porch the other evening. The light was perfect and I couldn't help pulling out the camera.

My beautiful boys.

This is now pretty much my favorite photo of all time.

Cracking himself up.

Fascinated by airplanes. He points at the sky and yells "jet!"

And we went strawberry picking! There were baby goats on the farm, which he was a little freaked out about.

But, on the up side, he did get to ride in his awesome new wagon!

And he ate more strawberries than seems humanly possible, covering himself and everyone around him in strawberry juice.

Oh, they grow up so fast!

(And this one is just because there are so few like it. Mama and Darwin.)

5.29.2008

It has been over a month since I posted anything and I feel just terrible about it. So here's a giant barrage of photos for your viewing pleasure.

Darwin loves the playground ... and I mean really LOVES it, what with all the climbing and swinging and sliding and stuff.

Darwin's Tika and I have starting going for little hikes in the nearby Fells. It's slow going with the little one (you know, having to stop and dig up dirt and pick up sticks every five feet) but we all really enjoy ourselves.

We're trying to teach him that throwing things isn't actually ok, but so far that lesson isn't sticking at all.

He's reading a lot these days. Somehow he's turned into a complete boy and all he wants to read about is trucks and dinosaurs. Oh well, at least those are two super cool things to know about!

Darwin recently became gainfully employed. Well, no, but it sure looks good on him, huh?

Now that the weather is nicer we're starting to hang out on our beautiful back porch more often ...

... where the wind wreaks havoc on the poor boy's hair.

Just recently he also had his first date, with Miss Athena. He proved himself to be quite the ladies man, by getting his foot caught in a balloon's string and completely ignoring her while he tried to untangle himself. Ah well, he is definitely his father's child.

And no worries, he does still love his beans.

howdy!

Well, it's been a very long time since I posted anything, because life has been really busy recently and I haven't been taking many pictures.

But here's all the news that's fit to print ...

We recently had Darwin's 15-month checkup, and he has made his way into 50th percentile for height and 25th percentile for weight. This is a huge difference from his last checkup where he was in the 10th percentile for weight. Yay! He's growing! About time!

His word list is coming along quite well. Here's what he says on a regular basis:

- Dada
- fish
- ball
- bye-bye
- up
- down
- more
- book (which he pronounces as bopf)
- Mama
- this
- that
- shoe
- out
- veggie booty (no, I'm not kidding)
- cheese
- nummy
- and many more that just aren't coming to mind right now

He's in daycare two days a week now and is learning SOOOO much there. Having a daycare you really like and trust is incredibly important. The daycare, which really goes by the policy of trying to be more of a school, is awesome. They do yoga and dancing and a million art projects and they sing songs and go for walks and when Darwin falls down and hurts himself they pick him up and give him love until he feels better. Oh, it's wonderful.

While we were all sick for weeks and weeks, Darwin lost some weight, which was actually pretty scary. But when he came out of that he all of a sudden came out with an appetite like you wouldn't believe. He will eat anything he can get his hands on right now. Some of his favorite things are veggie booty (obviously, from his list of words above), tofu, hummus, broccoli rabe, blueberry waffles, applesauce, pizza, and beans of any kind. Watching him eat with such enthusiasm is an amazing thing for me ... it's wonderful knowing that your child is thriving.

I apologize wholeheartedly for the recent lack of pictures. I promise I'll try to make more time for them. But for now, just take these few with our love.

No, people, that isn't chocolate frosting. It's black beans. No joke.

Oh, he loves to swing! Total speed demon (that's my boy).

He just discovered his nipples!

In this picture he looks so much like J, and yet still totally himself. Beautiful, beautiful boy.

vacation

There are so many pictures that I really had a hard time choosing, but here are some I especially like.

Spending quality time with the grandparents, both awake ...

... and asleep.

Exploring Mayan ruins ...

Loving the beach ...

And, of course, being beautiful ...

(this is probably my favorite picture from the entire vacation)

how we spend our days ...

Each day is not so different from the last, but somehow our lives seem so full and busy.

Darwin drags trash around behind him ...

We go to our kindermusic class ...

... where bubbles are everybody's favorite part ...

We do laundry ...

We go for LOTS of walk on the bike path (in any weather) ...

And at the end of it all, he sleeps (sometimes) ...
